We left Sydney in April to head off with the Fernandos (yes Clare is changing her surname!) to Bathurst. The traffic was predictably dreadful and I could see Tung getting more and more impatient when we were travelling between 0-10 km/hour in some stretches in the Blue Mountains. This stretched the trip quite a bit and we had Joss in the back asking "Are we there yet?". Tung was very happy with me because the packing was very well done for once and not over the top.

Day 1
We spent most of Friday either lazing around at home or driving to the B&B where we were staying. It was a fantastic little place though and we would go back there again if we were in the area. There were 3 bedrooms and a spacious common lounge area. The gardens were beautiful and the whole place has been lovingly decorated with so much attention to every little detail. It was such a joy to keep finding the little things, like when standing on a rock in the garden and realising there was a fairy in it.
We went out for dinner that night, local steakhouse franchise. Darcy scored a present just for looking cute I think. This is starting to be a regular occurrence.
Day 2
Darcy and I wandered through the gardens after breakfast and I got some nice shots of her and some of the special details hidden in the garden. Then we all took off to Bathurst regional airport for Ravi's all-important trial instruction flight. Clare got it for him as a gift to hopefully dim his appetite to get his flight or is it pilot licence. Anyway it only whet his appetite!
It started raining so we headed into Bathurst for lunch (nothing special), a bit of shopping (I just cannot resist) and the Fossil and Mineral Museum (a nice surprise). It's small and staffed by volunteers but they certainly knew their stuff. There was a very nice amber exhibit with a magnifying glass so you could see the insects frozen in the amber. Very Jurassic Park. We were kind of fed up with the so-so food by now so grabbed some chicken, salad and bread to have a meal at home that night.
Day 3
Time to pack up and think about heading home. We decided to drop into Jenolan Caves which was a half hour drive away. That was a pleasant surprise although I really wasn't equipped with the proper shoes to venture into any caves. Darcy and I had fun amusing ourselves while everyone else headed into one of the caves.
Day 4
The girls came over for an Easter egg hunt the following day. Tung was amazed at how much fun they had racing around the garden looking for eggs. Taylor collected the most, she certainly has good gathering instincts. Even Darcy managed to collect a few eggs. We had so much fun we're going to do it agin next year.

You should also try dying real eggs next year... that's fun too, just count the eggs and make sure they're all found. Afterwards you can make deviled eggs and egg sandwiches!
